People in Movies don’t Watch Movies

This isn’t that novel of an idea. Going through my Drafts and found this 8 year old title with no content.

The essential observation was how few people in films seem to have watched any films. This of course applies to contemporary or futuristic set films where they would have access to media. This doubly applies to them having watched any media of the genre they are in.

As in if it is a zombie flick no one seems to have heard of zombies before.

This has changed over the last 8 years. There have been books, films and shows that contain characters that refer to media and content that helps them relate to their position.

Just a minor observation, I get that a suspension of disbelief is to be expected form fictional entertainment, but that is also a responsibility of the content creator to invoke that in their audience.
