Feminist Academia : Struggle of Dildo Bagging

This video though…Thank you both for this.Tl;DR and Bunny Blackwell read througha nd discuss the a peer reviewed academic paper –  The Dildo as a Transformative Political Tool: Feminist and Queer Perspectives – Published in Sexuality & Culture 2014.

In my series on the Women’s March and related protests, I have mentioned the tendency to see oppression in the oddest of places. In this case it is about the oppressive nature of sex toys. Arpita Das, the author may not be representative of most or even a large percent of women, but it is indicative of a growing and vocal aspect of seeing things througha  feminist lens.

25 minutes in and struck by how the Das’ point of view shows signs of narcissism likely encouraged by a secluded bubble lifestyle. As Bunny said getting a dildo is just getting a dildo, but for Das it’s as if she is Bilbo Baggins searching for the One ring and every man is a menacing Orc with the patriarchy as a Smaug level all-encompassing dread.

Das feels getting dildos is hard and projects this onto all women. The day-to-day things many do are unimaginable to her. Imagine you’ve  become accustomed to delivery food. You have never bought groceries, prepped the ingredients then cooked the meal.  Depending on the kind of person, they could be in a home with a fully stocked pantry and still find that a meal was somehtign out of reach. Imagine this same person on a farm where one would actually harvest plants or slaughter animals, let alone intensive husbandry.

Husbandry, heh. Coincidentally the person that holds the ideas in this paper are against traditional human husbands. As for the etymology of the word, it may be a nod to how females have the choice in selecting preferred genes via mate selection contains the term husband.
